Good Practice at Board level

The Board has taken a significant step to enhance transparency and uphold good practice at MASA. In recognition of the importance of maintaining integrity and fairness in its decision-making processes, the Board has adopted a Conflict of Interest Register. This provides a structured mechanism for all elected members to declare their personal interests whenever discussions or resolutions pertaining to the distribution of royalties’ exercises are being conducted. Another significant step towards promoting ethical conduct and upholding the highest standards of governance at MASA is the adoption of a Code of Ethics for all Board members. This code serves as a guiding framework, outlining the principles, values, and responsibilities that our Board members must adhere to in their roles.

Financial Statements

The financial statements for the period 2016 to 2020 are currently under audit. As part of the Board’s commitment to transparency and accountability, once the audit process is completed, the financial statements and the corresponding annual reports will be published on our website. The financial statements for periods 2020-2021 and 2021-2022 are under preparation.

MASA Artists Solidarity Scheme

During the Annual General Meeting held on 26th February 2023, a resolution was taken to discontinue payments to the MASA Artists Solidarity Scheme starting as from June 2023. The Board is fully committed to explore alternative options and is actively engaged in the process of evaluating other schemes. A formal stand will be communicated in due course.

Reprography

Discussions on the introduction of collective management of reprography at MASA have started at the Reprography Committee level. To further explore and establish the best possible framework, the Board commissioned a comprehensive paper on this matter. Various international organisations will be approached for their valuable insights and assistance in implementing this system.
