How are royalties calculated?
The musical works are captured from the list submitted by the music user. The copyright owners and the shares are already mentioned in our database – Copyright Societies Information System Network. Calculations are done on the system.
Will I receive payments as soon as I register my musical works at the MASA?
No. The works should be captured in the reports provided by the music users.
What should I do if I receive royalties for musical works which are not mine?

MASA has paid me royalties following the use of my musical works but I think the payment is wrong and insufficient. What should I do?

A musical work for which I was expecting payment has not been included in my last payment. What should I do?
Please ensure that the date of the performances is included in the period stated on the distribution details and as per the approved distribution calendar. If you believe that this is an omission by the MASA, please contact our officers by providing them with written information on the titles, dates, venues and name of user or event organiser.
I have not received any payment from the MASA over the last years. What are the reasons?
It could be that your musical works have not been captured in the reports submitted by music users. Consequently, no payment is effected to you.
When are payments made by MASA?

How are payments effected?
Payments of over Rs 500 are made by way of bank transfers or by cheque. Lesser sum is not paid until it reaches Rs 500.
What should I do when I participate in an event?
Please ensure that the event organiser has paid copyright fees to MASA and that log sheets (reports) with details on the musical works are properly filled.
Who should pay for copyright fees?
Event organisers and music users. Consult the list of users in the Copyright (Fees) Regulations.
I am an event organiser or a music user and I wish to know the applicable rates for payment of fees. What should I do?
