Deductions for Social and Welfare Purposes
The Board decided to adjust the deductions for social and welfare purposes. Effective on collections as from January 2024, the deduction percentage is reduced from 7% to 5%. The remaining 2% will now be allocated to distribution exercises.
MASA Senior Members Allowance
The Board introduced the MASA Senior Members Allowance; a plan designed to honour our members who have reached the age of 60. This initiative replaces the former MASA Artists Solidarity Scheme. Members will receive a one-off allowance of Rs 20,000 effective from July 2023.
The Chairperson of the Board convened a meeting with the inaugural beneficiaries of the MASA Senior Members Allowance on 15th March 2024. This was an opportunity to express our gratitude and solidarity with our esteemed senior members, whose contributions have enriched our community over the years.
In addition to the introduction of the MASA Senior Members Allowance, the Board has recognised the need for fairness and equity. Therefore, adjustments will be made for members who received less than Rs 20,000 under the former MASA Artists Solidarity Scheme.
Abolishment of Medical Scheme
With the implementation of the MASA Senior Members Allowance, decision was taken to abolish the existing scheme for medical purposes.
Audit on Distribution Account
The Board has taken a proactive step towards ensuring transparency and accountability within MASA. In line with the commitment to maintain the highest standards of financial integrity, the Board decided to commission an audit exercise specifically focused on the distribution account of MASA. This audit exercise aims to provide a comprehensive review of the distribution account.
