ELECTION OF FOUR (4) MEMBERS OF THE MAURITIUS SOCIETY OF AUTHORS (MASA)
NOTICE OF POLLING DAY
Notice is hereby given to all eligible members of the Mauritius Society of Authors (MASA) that a poll for the election of four (4) members to the Board of the MASA will be conducted by the Office of the Electoral Commissioner on Sunday twenty-four (24th) day of August, 2025, between the hours of 10 am and 1 pm at the Office of the Electoral Commissioner, 9th Floor, MaxCity Building, Cnr. Rémy Ollier and Louis Pasteur Streets, Port Louis.
And the candidates nominated for the three (3) categories are as follows:
CATEGORY A – MUSIC AUTHOR, COMPOSER and PERFORMER (2 Candidates to be elected):

Application to vote by proxy
- Any eligible member wishing to vote by proxy should apply immediately IN PERSON to the Returning Officer and produce his National Identity Card to her at the Office of the Electoral Commissioner, Level 3, Max City Building, Cr. Rémy Ollier and Louis Pasteur Streets, Port Louis.
- An Application form will be issued to him/her and the said form, duly filled in and signed both by the applicant and the proxy, should be remitted to the Returning Officer on or before Friday 15 August 2025 during normal office hours.
- A proxy paper authorizing the proxy to vote on behalf of the applicant will be remitted to the proxy at the polling station on Sunday 24 August 2025 before the start of the poll.
- It is brought to the attention of all members concerned that
(i) A proxy should be an eligible member of the MASA; and
(ii) A member can act as proxy for a maximum of two (2) electors
Directions to voters
- When applying for a ballot paper, each elector MUST produce his/her National Identity Card or passport, failing which he/she will not be able to vote.
- An elector will be issued with a ballot paper comprising of three (3) categories namely:-
Category A: Candidates from Music Author, Composer and Performer
Category C: Candidates from Literary Author
Category E: Candidates from Other Works - Each elector shall vote in all the three (3) categories and for four (4) candidates, namely:
(i) two (2) candidates from the category of Music Author, Composer and Performer
(ii) one (1) candidate from the category of Literary Author
(iii) one (1) candidate from the category of Other Works
by putting a cross (x) opposite the name of each candidate of his/her choice. - If an elector votes for more candidates or a lesser number of candidates than the number required in each section or does not vote in any of the three (3) categories or places any mark or writing on the ballot paper by which he/she could afterwards be identified, his/her votes will be void and will not be counted.
- If an elector inadvertently spoils a ballot paper, he/she may return it to the Presiding Officer who, on being satisfied of the fact, will issue him/her with another ballot paper.
- An elector who has appointed a proxy to vote on his/her behalf will not be entitled to vote in person.
Furthermore, notice is also given that on 30 July 2025, the date limit fixed for the receipt of notice of candidature, there being only:
(i) two (2) candidates for the two (2) vacancies to be filled in the Category B: Audiovisual/Theatrical; and
(ii) one (1) candidate for the one (1) vacancy to be filled in the Category D: Publisher.
The undermentioned candidates will, therefore, be declared elected on Sunday 24 August 2025:
